Polisher deals with the rough or laser sawn diamond. Follows planners' laser marking to polish and return back to the planner.
This task is performed because of following reasons:
- Open the diamond surface more to confirm if the estimated clarity is matching
- Form culet
- Remove table tilt if any
- If any doubts in grooves, cracks, open surfaces; this task is the right time to confirm
- Finalize all estimations are matching
Responsibilities:
- Check every parcel have diamond when receiving parcels from stock controller
- Check weight of diamond in weighing scale and confirm if it matches with the current weight mentioned in the parcel
- Be sure that you fully understand laser marking and label instructions by the planners
- Consumables, tools and equipment are available and in good condition
- Opening the scaif should be done just before shift end so that you are ready for tomorrow
- Cover your scaif and oil your tang when going for weekend or holidays
- Ensure your polishing mill is clean and tidy before knocking off for the day
- Scaif have to be balanced using scaif balancing morgana if it is available in the factory
- After planner/ section monitor/ section supervisor confirmation check current weight using weighing scale and write it in the parcel
Consumables, tools and equipment:
- 0.5 Marker pen
- Weight blocks
- Table tang with claws, top tang with claw, fancy bottom tang with claws and girdle tang
- Galvanised rough Scaif
- Pots in all sizes you polish
- Pot holder to store pots on table
- Olive oil, rose dip liquid, diamond dust or anything similar to apply and coated diamond to open scaif
- 10X or more magnifier loupe
- Apron or dust coat
- Regular pen and book to note down any instruction from monitor or supervisor
- Cloth for cleaning
